  • Getting to Know Romero Osby

Romero Osby wanted a fresh start. Rated the 57th-best player in the country by Rivals.com coming out of high school in Meridian, Miss., the 6-8, 247-pounder averaged 4.2 points and 2.6 rebounds in just 12.8 minutes per game over his freshman and sophomore seasons at Mississippi State the last two years. With an undefined role and limited opportunities to impact his team's games, Osby says he lost confidence and wanted a new home.

  • Getting to Know T.J. Taylor

Because he suffered a broken ankle early in the summer of 2009, OU freshman T.J. Taylor didn't get the chance to show recruiting analysts how he stacked up against the country's elite heading into his senior year of high school. As a result, Taylor now feels that few people have a full grasp of his abilities on the court. He hopes to change that when the Sooners suit up in November.

  • Men's Basketball Summer Preview

It's not going out on a limb to say the Oklahoma men's basketball team endured a disappointing 2009-10 season. A Sooners team ranked No. 17 in the preseason AP poll and picked by Big 12 Conference coaches to finish third in the league posted a 13-18 overall record and tied for ninth place in the Big 12.

  • The Write Space and Time: Sept. 1

In the span of a mere 24-hour period, I moved my son into his college dorm, dropped my daughter off for her first day of high school, and found out Whitney Hand couldn't play basketball for five more months. It didn't surpass Nov. 26, 2003, (a.k.a. Black Tuesday) on the list of disconcerting landmarks, but I can say without reservation that I've lived through better days.

  • Hand Out for Five Months

Oklahoma sophomore Whitney Hand will be out of action approximately five months following microfracture surgery Tuesday to repair cartilage damage in her right knee. The 2009 Big 12 Freshman of the Year was scheduled for a scope to eliminate swelling. During the surgery, discovery of a cartilage defect dictated the additional procedure.

  • Fast Break Club Sets 3 Luncheons

The Fast Break Club will hold three fund-raising luncheons during the 2010-11 season. Fast Break Club members can join head coach Sherri Coale and other members of the program for an inside perspective on Oklahoma women's basketball. The proceeds from these luncheons help the Fast Break Club in their support of the Oklahoma women's basketball team.<
